The Random Bin in the Parking Lot

Donation BinAs I’ve done in the past, I’ve pillaged through my closet and drawers to find items of clothing that I never wear. These items include those that are out of style, ruined, don’t fit or from Ethan’s Bar Mitzvah circa 1993.

I always find it funny when I donate clothes to a random bin in the middle of a grocery store parking lot. Who is getting those clothes? I know what it says on the bin, but seriously, with the exception of the homeless and more impoverished, who is wearing these clothes? I can’t wait until the day comes where I see someone wearing my old clothes. I may even strike up a conversation with them.

And what about the types of clothes that are acceptable to donate…my wife tells me that I can’t donate underwear or socks…and I say to that, “WHY NOT?” I’m sure someone somewhere needs a pair of skivvies or socks. So what if there is a hole in it. Find someone to darn the socks. (I can’t believe people still darn socks)

Regardless of who gets these clothes, it does feel better to place them in a bin than having to throw them out.

What random bin do you dump your clothes into?
